1:50 PM CASE STUDY: Agricola College Redevelopment – New Builds and Refurbishments for the Growth of Curtin University’s Western Australia School of Mines

The $32 million Agricola College redevelopment opened in early 2017 to provide high-quality accommodation for 228 students to meet the increasing demand for student undertaking training in Goldfields. This includes the Western Australia School of Mines and the Central Regional TAFE’s Kalgoorlie Campus. The unique modular construction of the building was a key to cutting time on development, with the first of the two buildings taking shape in less than 24 hours in one week. Drawing on this unique partnership and development, Sam will discuss the advantages delivered by the new accommodation on the growth of their regional campus, including:

  • Overcoming significant university budget pressures and recognising such developments as an investment into the economic future of the university and students
  • World-class facilities to attract high calibre students: Understanding the importance of this partnership with the State Government to attain the shared vision for regional growth
  • New builds and refurbishments: Creating a strategy that breathes new life into aging infrastructure and makes it fit for purpose and adaptable for the future
